Your doctor has mentioned the importance of exercise in dementia prevention, right? It is true that exercise can have delay the development and severity of the disease. In a study done at McMaster University with a group of 1646 adults 65 years and older, walking just three times per week was linked to huge benefits. Exercise helped postpone or prevent the development of cognitive problems. The Huffington Post reports that even a little bit of light exercise can have dramatic benefits when done regularly. (Watching golf on TV doesn’t count. Neither does sharing a pizza.) Even if genes predispose a person to dementia related diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease or Lewy body disease, exercise can help prevent the onset of the disease. But, a sedentary lifestyle can have the opposite effect, even when healthy genes are present. This seems like ample motivation to move your body!

You are correct. I am almost 60. When I exercise regularly, I feel good. When I skip exercising for just a few days I get pains in my back, knees, and shoulders. There is no doubt in my mind. Exercise is like brushing your teeth. It is not an option.
Thank you Alan. Happy to hear that you take the time to exercise and can feel the difference when you don’t. That’s a great motivator.
