Finding love despite old age is something many older adults don’t even consider. For Gertrude Mokotoff, 98, and Alvin Mann, 94, their first date was only the beginning of their lives together.

Fining love so late in life may seem impossible. But for Gertrude and Alvin, it came naturally. The New York Times tells the touching story of this couple. She was introduced to him at 90 years old. According to Gertrude, he was a perfect gentleman on their first date. An instant connection was formed between the two. They immediately became a couple. They talked about plans for the future with excitement starting on the first date. Finally, eight years after meeting at the gym, Gertrude asked Alvin to marry her. He happily agreed.

Their wedding was an emotional event for all involved. Tears were shed around the room. It isn’t every day that a couple in their 90’s gets married.  Gertrude said this was like an early 99th birthday gift.

Furthermore, they continue to stay active. Alvin still chops wood and drags logs in his yard regularly. Alvin says,

“Age doesn’t mean a damn thing to me or Gert. We don’t see it as a barrier. We still do what we want to do in life.”

They claim that they live life “worry-free.” Most of all, Alvin says they don’t let anything outside of their control bother them.

When asked how his life will change now that he is a married man again, Alvin has a simple answer. “Nothing will change”, he says. He states that they have done so much together already. And they know neither of them are likely to find anyone else, he states with a smile. “So from here on out, its just the two of us, together, for the remaining days of our lives.”
